I just realized recently that I haven’t posted anything on my blog regarding my graduation, me graduating after so many years of struggling in college, and me being an unemployed for a couple of weeks. However, today is not the time that I will talk about it, but let me do a rundown of what has been happening in my life lately – things that keep me oh so thankful and pretty busy.
A month well-traveled
The last week of April and the second week of May has been one of the highlights of my summer vacation. I maximized this summer because I feel like this will be my last vacation ‘cos hello working life – no longer a student. I’m just so happy to be able to visit two places; the La Union, my province; and Fortune Island in Batangas.
I also created a montage of our trips on my YouTube channel. Watch and subscribe!
Working on my comfort
I have always been wanting to work remotely/from home. When I was taking my internship in a digital advertising agency in Makati, I experienced how really it is to work full-time. I experienced EDSA traffic almost every day, the stress and discomfort of sitting in the office for 8 to 9 hours, add up to the list of me being not really a morning person so waking up early for my 8 am – 5 pm work is such a chore, and the constant problem of every girl, “What will I wear for today?” That’s when I realized that I’m not for the corporate world; that I really want to pursue working as a freelance and working remotely.
I started looking for job postings on Upwork and Onlinejobs – doing freelance work from time to time. I was being contacted for project-based work, they send payments, I earn money, but it is actually not enough. So while working, I still continue applying for full-time work and just last week when I received an offer and got hired to a full-time work that is based in San Diego, CA. What I’ve been hoping right now is that I could make it juggling to one full-time and two freelance work and that I could manage my time properly.
While you all are binge watching Korean series, Netflix series, or whatever, I’m on a lookout for old movies; preferably those films by Stanley Kubrick or films that talks about bizarre things and not just a love story. Although I’m 99% lazy when it comes to watching recommended movies, here at what I’ve watched for the past few days:
- Lolita (1997)
- Trust (2010)
- The Shining (1980)
I’m open to movie recommendations! If you have any, just comment them down and I’ll try to watch them soon. 🙂
Skincare and Makeup Routine
One of the advantages (or disadvantages?) of not working to a physical office is that I don’t need to waste 1 hour of doing my makeup every day; I can be with myself without any makeup on for the entire week unless I have a Skype video meeting which is very rare.
However, my interest for online shopping and Asian skincare has increased and I’ve been on a constant lookout for stuff that I want to buy. Recently, I bought a moisturizer, lip tint, and primer. My best friends also gave me a silicon sponge, and now I’m eyeing for toner. Can you suggest me a good and affordable toner?
PS: I’m thinking of writing a blog post for my current skincare and makeup routine. Whatcha think?
Books and a book signing
Before 2016 ends, I told myself that I’ll be reading more books this year but I don’t know what happened and I chose to be in a reading slump. I stopped reading and touching any of my books; tried to re-read but I haven’t gone even in the first chapter, but while Ron and I were on a mall I impulsively bought another Paulo Coelho book, The Witch of Portobello. Initially, I thought that maybe buying a new book will push me to read again. A few days later, Lang Leav will release her first ever novel and I’ve been waiting for it ever since she made an announcement about it. Two days before the official release on National Bookstore, I saw a bunch of copies on one of their branches and I immediately bought it. Two new books in one week? Of course.
And not just that, after Lang officially released her novel book here, she announced her second time here in the Philippines for a book signing. CAN YOU GUESS WHAT I’M FEELING?! I’m so so so darn happy and stoked. I’m going to wait until June 25, I will go on her book signing event which will happen in Glorietta 3, I will have my book autographed by her, and I will take a photo with her!
Art Mod Fair 2017
If you have been a regular reader or a good friend of mine, you will know that I love going to museums and that I have an interest for art galleries, fair, and events. When I saw Bae‘s Instagram post about it, I thought that I want to go there since it’s weekend. A few hours later, I saw her tweet that they are still looking for bloggers who can go to the event. I’m not the type of person who will embrace the entitlement as “I’m a blogger,” but I decided to grab the opportunity to attend a fair as a blogger. Yes, this is my first time, lol.
I went with Ron and I enjoyed the event not because of the entitlement, but because of every art pieces that were exhibited there. We were actually surprised and felt proud that there are so many exhibits that came from Angono; there’s also free tasting of wine and whiskey; and free workshops about various topics.
PS: I’ll write a separate blog post about the event soon.
All of these happened in a span of one month and I can’t believe that there are so many things that can happen in a month. We’re on the second half of this year and I’m hella excited for more happy things that will go on my way. 🙂
What are the things that make you happy recently?
Can you suggest good movies and/or skincare products to me?
