Angono, Rizal, the Art Capital of the Philippines, is the place where a lot of famous painters, sculptors, art enthusiasts were born and raised. National Artist Carlos Botong Francisco is one of the painters/muralists that Angono is still taking pride until now.
Because it is a holiday and the boyfriend is from Angono, we planned on visiting the Nemiranda Art House.
Nemesio “Nemi” R. Miranda Jr., also known as Nemiranda, is a famous sculptor and painter in Angono. He was known as the forerunner of the art form called Imaginative Figurism. The Nemiranda Art House is located in Dona Justa Subdivision Angono. It was designed and created by himself using only local materials such as wood, bamboo, and old recycled materials from old churches and convents in Angono. Apparently, the place looks like more of an abandoned or old house rather than a museum that we could see today.
We went there almost late in the afternoon, luckily it was still open for visitors. We paid 50Php each; you could pay 60Php if you want to have a lecture from them, too.
Credits to Ron for taking the photos whilst I was busy taking the video. 🙂
I obviously took a video of our entire tour so I think I do not need to explain anymore what I have seen there because the video is quite enough, lol. The place was so artistic in its own way; it is not what I am expecting because I have been to different art galleries and the Nemiranda Art House is literally an old house displaying his artworks. I LOVE THIS PLACE, and to think that there are numerous local art galleries/museums in Angono made my heart skip a beat. I will definitely go back to check other hidden arts there. <3
