“Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.”
– Hebrews 13:16 (ESV)
God is a God of generosity (Matthew 7:11). When He planned to give us all the beautiful things in this world, He planned in full detail. I believe that God wants the best for us. He wants us to grow and mature more (Colossians 2:6-7) through His word, prayer, and other people. The knowledge we have now is from amassing ideas and knowledge from various people; through reading books, devotionals, and other resources. With the power of His Spirit, we gain understanding, and through this understanding, we gain a closer relationship to God.
But that doesn’t end there. What we know about God; the salvation, lordship, faith, anything that is about Him should not stay in ourselves only. Yes, we always have journals with us – full of handwritten Bible verses, devotional topics we just read, ideas and life reflections from the scriptures, and some other stuff. Yes, every year we have to buy thick journals for our thick thoughts ready to be written – thick thoughts to be read and to be known only by us (because I assume that we don’t let anyone read even a single line from our journals, right?)
But take note of this, the Gospel is the good news (Mark 16:15), and good news should not stay only in those pages. The Gospel should not only confine by the walls of our room every time we do our quiet time, it should not stay only as an idea, as a hidden knowledge about Him, waiting to be used. The Gospel is not an idea to be kept private, but it is news that needs to be shared. Whether we are reading tons of Christian books for so long, tweeting Christian quotes, declaring that we are a woman of God, but still do not share it with other people, somehow, we’re wasting our time.
Not just our time, but the ways we can share it with everyone. Technology is growing so fast; we can use our Social Media accounts to share the Gospel; we can use our Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook to show His goodness. Instead of writing our thoughts to those papers that no one even sees, why can we just write a blog about Him? It’s multi-purpose; we are expressing our ideas and thoughts and sharing it with everyone at the same time. How good is that, right?
Everyone is capable of doing anything because God equips us well (Hebrews 13:21). God is with us (Romans 8:31); the Holy Spirit will guide us and encourage us to do everything for His glory (1 Corinthians 10:31). I just hope that the richness of His knowledge in us will not only stay for our own benefit but enable us to have the courage to take a bold step to share the Gospel in any way possible.
