2017 went by so fast. What I know is that I’m just trying to finish my thesis; the next thing I know, I’m already exhausted with work. I don’t know why, but I can’t remember much this year. To help me remember all the good things that happened for the past 12 months, below are the things I am grateful for 2017!
Grateful list for 2017
Graduated and currently employed
I’ve been praying for this for so long. I was delayed for 1 year, I should have graduated last 2016, but this has been one of God’s plans. My patience and faith have been tested, and I’m thankful for the hardship I experienced because, without those things, I wouldn’t appreciate all the blessings I have right now.
Right after I graduated, I tried to apply for corporate jobs, but I was led to what I really want – to work from home and away from traffic and corporate dramas. 8 months since I graduated, I’m now employed not just as a full-time employee, but also as freelancer and part-timer. Huzzah! 💃
For someone like me who is just a fresh graduate and just had her first jobs and salaries, I’m so happy that I was able to travel and visit different places with my friends and/or family. I was able to budget my money and save up for the places I want to visit. This 2017, I went to La Union, Baguio, Fortune Island Batangas, Tagaytay (so many times!), and Zambales. Those places may seem a no-big-deal for other people, but they are actually special for me because I never got to experience traveling when I was a student and my only travel then was Manila to Cubao only. 😂
2018, where to next?
Saving up for the better future
When I was studying, I endured a lot of financial struggles; since high school until I graduated college. My parents and my sister worked really hard for me to graduate and experience what I’m experiencing now. I learned what I need to learn about money in a hard way. I didn’t know how to save, all I know is how to spend them, but with a lot of prayers, I was able to learn how to budget my money, track my expenses, and save up for my future. I did not set a specific goal for it like it will be for my future wedding or house because I feel like it will be a pressure for me.
Friends, sisters, accountable people
Working from home, without officemates and all increases my social needs. It’s really hard when you’re jam-pressed with work the entire week and got no time to go out and socialize, I end up feeling isolated and burned out. This kind of work environment taught me who my real friends are, those low maintenance friends whom you can miss talking for months and still treat you the same way when you reconnect with them. I’m eternally grateful for my two best friends, Angel and Pau, who are my sisters from other mothers. There will be times when we won’t talk to each other because we’re all busy with work, but they are my constants and they’re always there when we need each other. Also thankful for my college friends and now travel buddies who are always “G” when it comes to adventures. 🚌
I have a very small group of friends and if you’re one of them, thank you for making my 2017 awesome and let’s make more memories in 2018!
The love of my life
It’s been a blessing to spend my 2016 with you; I didn’t know that I got to be more blessed this year. We have been through a lot of hard times and you’ve been one of my solid rocks that I can run and lean on. Thank you for being a man who I can look up to; a man who is a gentleman, faithful, honest, thoughtful, humble, and funny. Until now, I’m still amazed at your humility. Thank you for not giving up on me. Thank you for securing me with your love every day; for patiently waiting for me every time I shop, and accepting all of my flaws. I thank the Lord for His beautiful gift to me, ikaw yun. To more places to travel; food to try, and memories to make in 2018. 💘💘💘
To ALL the people who have been part of my 2017, thank you for making my year so memorable. Thank You Lord for giving me beyond what I asked for; for the jobs, provisions, good health, and for letting me go anywhere I want to go. Thank You, Lord, for pursuing me every day, for reminding me of Your plans and promises to me, and for proving me that You are indeed the Lord of all. 2017 has been full of blessings because of You, that’s why I will keep on trusting that You will bring more blessings and breakthrough this coming 2018! 🙏
