Every time I hear L.A. Girl, all I can remember is their famous Pro Conceal High Definition Concealer which I never bought, but when I was on a lookout for a cheap eyeshadow palette last month, I discovered their yet-another-famous product: the Beauty Brick Eyeshadow collection. According to L.A. Girl website, this collection has four shades; Nudes, Smoky, Ultra, and Neon. Since I’m looking for a natural and good-for-everyday-look kind of eyeshadow, I chose the Nudes shades. What it feels like to be beautiful? Or how’d we know if someone is beautiful? Was there a standard created so that one girl can check that she’s beautiful? Or was it only based on people’s standards?
Living in this generation, I have known a lot of standards to be able to fit in to the word “beautiful”. You should be fair-skin and flawless; hair must be straight, smooth, and silky; you must be in size 0 or contain body stats of 36-24-36; and you must have the latest iPhone or highlighter makeup. The list goes on. Whatever they see on the screen, whatever they see on their celebrity crushes, they automatically accept it until it became a norm. [Read more…]
Part of our Tagaytay trip last January is our museum tour and I believe that I mentioned in my Tagaytay blog post that I will write a separate post about it, but since so many things have gone in my way, I almost forgot about it and just last week while I was browsing old files on my laptop I remembered that I have few backlogs and one of them is my post about Museo Orlina. I could be very forgetful and I know it has been months, but it’s not actually bad to still post it right?
Creating an itinerary for our Tagaytay trip was fun and I actually assured that we will visit one of the town’s famous museums. When I intentionally looked for famous museums in Tagaytay, Google gave me Museo Orlina. But what is Museo Orlina all about? [Read more…]
I know it’s been ages since the last time I wrote anything for my blog series because let me be completely honest that sometimes I only post for blog series whenever I don’t have anything to write about. Haha, but now I think this is the perfect time to do this once again because there are so many happy and good things that happened to me lately. Thus, a combination of Life Lately and The Happy List! Imagine you have the opportunity to write a book about your childhood and teenage stage. Imagine you have the paper and the pen to jot down all the memories you can still remember when you were in elementary—innocent and full of joy. When you were in high school, tried so hard to look very charming despite the evidence of puberty in your face (e.g. pimples and oily skin), and when you were in college, you became determined yet half-hearted. Imagine you have the privilege to write a book about your achievements and failures: secrets, heartbreak, confusion, loss, celebrations, and whatsoever. If ever, what would be the title of your book? And if ever, would you let everyone read it out loud? Would you let everyone know your whole story? [Read more…]
When it comes to beauty and skin products, it took quite a long time for me to discover and try those products that work best for me and my skin type. I went under trial and error process – damaging and abusing my skin because of the strong chemicals of those products that I tried. [Read more…]
Chinese New Year is something we annually celebrate aside from our usual yearly celebrations such as Christmas, Valentines, etc. When it comes to celebrating it, nothing is better than visiting the ever-beautiful Chinatown in Binondo, Manila. [Read more…]
Tagaytay has a special place in my heart. It was few days left before our first anniversary when Ron told me that we will be going to Tagaytay as a celebration for our first year together. At first, I didn’t believe him because “why would he even bother to go to Tagaytay when we can just celebrate our day over a special dinner here?” But because Ron is Ron and he is always that kind of man, he really meant it and we really are going to Tagaytay! Hobbies include: discovering and visiting local coffee shops. I have to admit that I always opt to go to low-key coffee shops rather than those expensive and overcrowded ones. [Read more…]
I am a self-proclaimed coffee enthusiast. Who would not love coffee? Though I know few people who do not drink coffee and I feel sorry for them, because for me coffee is the key to my everyday life. Does it sound so exaggerated?
One of the misconceptions of going to coffee shops is that it costs too much. Yes, there are coffee shops that are questionably overpriced and the quality of their coffee does not fit well with the money you have spent. It sucks, right? That is why I never tried the expensive ones. I always opt for the nearest and cheapest coffee shops and luckily they offer the best cappuccinos. [Read more…]
