I have to be honest that despite my heart for visiting art fairs, art galleries, and museums, I have no talent is such kind of arts. I’m a lefty and yet that does not give me the privilege to be a part of the belief that all lefties art gifted with drawing skills and/or typography. That’s why I love going to art fairs; to see and be inspired by different artworks from talented artists.
Art Mod Fair 2017 is a modern art fair that set a revolutionary way of doing art fairs for all artists and galleries. It’s a three-day event that launched at SM Megatrade Hall 2 last June 9-11, 2017. Ron and I went there on the second day of the event, June 10.
SM Megatrade Hall 2 is a very spacious and wide event place and I was surprised that it was jam-packed with booths, exhibitors, buyers, media, and other visitors like us. There’s also a stage in the middle where workshops, talks, and seminars happened.
It took us an hour roaming around and we (especially Ron) were surprised that 30% of the exhibitors were from Angono, his hometown. Silly us, why were we thinking that they wouldn’t include the artists from the Art Capital of the Philippines? Surely, they always have the spot for this kind of art event.
Being first timers in this kind of art fair, we had no idea that there are also displays there which are not paintings, sculptures, etc. To our amazement, there’s a booth that exhibits liquor such as scotch and wine. The exhibitors then offered us for free tasting; do we look like we’re manginginom? Lol. The exhibitor offered Ron three various type of scotch, which I would never dare to taste, while I was given a free taste of two types of their wine. I must say that strong type of wines was not really for me; I would prefer wines that are sweet and easy. Sorry if I forgot the name of their business or even the drinks we had, I should take down some notes in the next art event I’ll attend, though.
To end our visit there, I bought this The Little Prince postcard and cartoon characters stickers from Don Fumar.
It’s such a nice experience to attend this art fair; to witness different kinds and forms of arts, meet talented artists in different ages, and discover histories beneath those artworks. I can say that I can learn from just looking at those masterpieces.
